Charities we support

Over the years, we’ve built some truly rewarding relationships with the likes of the Rainbow Trust, Starlight and Dress for Success.

This year, we’re very proud to be working with the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust once again – an organisation started in response to the tragic suicide of a young man. Their vision is of ‘a world where people understand and talk openly about depression, where young people know how to maintain well-being, and where the most appropriate treatment is available to everyone who needs it.’

This is an issue close to our own heart. Boden is a growing company but we care very much about the happiness and wellbeing of every person who comes on board. Our work with the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust has taken the form of fundraising, events for World Mental Health Day, training for mental health awareness in the workplace and a general effort to make sure that we offer an environment of openness and support in all of our own workplaces

So far, Boden has donated almost £100,000 to the Trust, with a significant amount of this down to the enthusiastic fundraising efforts of our heroic staff.

Mental Health Awareness Charity T-shirts

To coincide with World Mental Health Day (10th October), we’ve launched a first collection of slogan T-shirts with empowering, uplifting messages volunteered by our Mini customers via a competition earlier in 2019. This project was originally inspired by two little girls, Willow and Rose, who sent us a list of their own empowering slogans – ones they felt tapped into what it means to be a child today. We loved their words, so we had them made into T-shirts for them – and then extended the opportunity to other Mini fans. Proceeds from the sale of these T-shirts, available in Mini, women’s and men’s designs, will go to the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust.

Fundraising and volunteering

Our staff are always at it. We’ve taken part in a number of fundraising activities including: the Hyde Park swim, Best of Rock Musicals, Boden staff swap shops (raising more than £2,000 for the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust), sponsored runs and enough cake sales to have us fighting a losing battle with our top buttons. In a more formal capacity, we work with Future Frontiers to mentor young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in the workplace. Of late that has meant welcoming 26 students from Ark Academy in Wembley to come in over four working sessions to learn about career possibilities alongside our own staff (who were generally humiliated by the youngsters’ superior grasp of technology).

We also run a volunteer program in collaboration with Benefacto. This award-winning social enterprise scheme works with around 50 small charities in and around London and is on a mission to get more professional people volunteering. We encourage our employees to make the most of our Benefacto membership, and have created an easy-to-use booking system so staff can arrange to help out on local volunteering opportunities with the simple click of a button.
