In 1991, Johnnie Boden sat down at his kitchen table and sketched out eight pieces of menswear. That was his first collection, and the start of Boden. Since then our range has grown quite a bit – we now make clothes for all the family, and we don’t work out of Johnnie’s kitchen anymore. But the basic idea remains the same: to create stylish clothes that look great and never stint on quality.
We always try to manage tax issues within the spirit as well as letter of the law. We are committed to paying our fair share of tax, in each of the jurisdictions in which we trade. Tax matters are managed through robust business processes and controls to ensure we comply with the law and make tax returns, payments and disclosures to the tax authorities accurately and on time. The Finance Director is responsible for management of the Group tax affairs. We use professional external tax advisors to obtain advice when needed. This will generally be where there is uncertainty in tax treatment or conflict between the rules in different jurisdictions. The Audit Committee reviews the taxation policy twice a year. The Compliance Committee is updated on tax matters quarterly.
