This is a utility dress. The kind you can reach for in a pinch for work, drinks, church, a date... it is classic and well constructed. The fit was perfect, 5'7" 108#, purchased black US 2. I liked the tab for keeping the sleeves rolled. The belt provided is limp and doesn't break up the monotony of the dress which is one color. I find a leather belt in brown works better. My only quibble is that I have to be careful how I sit. It comes to the top of my knees but the last button is rather higher up so the split can be revealing if one is not paying attention. Woud get the taupe but I am afraid it may wash me out. Green seems an odd choice. Wish they had a red.

I waited until the sale for this dress and realized it was worth full price. Fabulous fit! I rolled up the sleeves and used my own belt on the black. I feel like I'm in the movie Out of Africa or Crocodile Dundee. The women in those movies had great, classic style that is timeless. I'm 5'9" and 138 lbs. The 6 L fit perfectly. I love this so much I'm considering the blue as well!

Shirt dresses are my favorite and the Apple green is beautiful! It fits well and looks great on. Also, I do wear it to work, church, out, etc. It's linen, so expect wrinkles o-plenty! I iron it every time :-( But, it's worth it to me. It's cool and practical for these HOT Arkansas summers. It would be nice if they made it a linen blend that didn't wrinkle so easily. Great buy!

I wear a size 6 and bought a 6(black)in this dress and it is a perfect fit. I am 5'5" and it falls right at the top of my knees. I plan to wear it teaching and have also ordered the blue version. I like the belt that came with it but it can also be worn without. The fit does a great job of camouflaging my not so toned baby belly! Great classic style dress. Easily dressed up or down. My favorite Boden dress yet!

I was very excited to see this dress in the catalogue because I'd worn my older Boden linen shirt dress that I had bought a few years ago into the ground and wanted to replace it. I was hoping this would be a good replacement, but unfortunately, this dress is not an improvement on the previous style.

The fabric is washed as opposed to a more formal crisp finish, which means that it is softer, but won't wear as durably as the older style. The classic style of the dress is marred by the fact that there are too many doodads -- too much stitching on the neck and belt, which makes the dress look cheap, and too many buttons of poor quality that clutter up the classic lines of the dress.

Boden, please bring back the old linen shirt dress!

I decided to keep this dress. The 12L is a good length for me at 6ft, it's a good weight for cool Seattle summers and I like the style. Pros: I like linen, its comfortable and I like the cut and length. Cons: if you just look at it, it wrinkles. It needs ironing each time I put it on. It isn`t lined and it isn't the type of dress I would wear to work or out but I`m hoping to get good use out of it as an everyday dress.

I was so excited to see this dress in the catalog since I've been looking for a replacement to a much loved Boden linen shirt dress that I bought several years ago and wore to death.

Unfortunately, this dress is not nearly as nice as the older style was. There are now too many buttons on the pockets and too much stitching, which makes the dress look a bit cheap. The belt loops are also too high for everyone but the short-waisted. The fabric in this style has been washed to give it a broken-in look, which will wrinkle easily and not last as long as a more crisp linen would.

Boden, please bring back the old style!

This linen dress is very thin, wrinkles easily and even with a different belt, doesn't lay well and isn't flattering. Not a good value. I have a thicker Boden linen dress and it only looks good for a few hours.

I love love this dress, it's nacely made, fits great. I can wear it every day with sandals or get a night look with a simple change of a belt and dressier shoes. I will order another one in black. Definitely recommend it.
