Passed this up so many times because the buttoned up look seemed frumpy to me. Finally, when it was virtually down to the last two prints/sizes, I decided to take a chance on the Shadow Crescent, size 10L. I was worried about the Long because I am 5'3 and a Regular is long enough.
First of all, when I opened the package, I was amazed -- what a GORGEOUS PRINT. Vibrant colors -- who knew olive, pink, and gold would blend so well. The image does not do it justice. Online the colors were muted and it appeared like cotton or jersey material. But it is nice and silky and expensive looking.
Oh and the length actually worked for me. It hit mid-knee which is fine. Sleeve length was just right too. So petite me can wear a Long afterall. I happened to be wearing boots when I first tried this on at home, and it looked great. Though I can see wearing it with sandals also.
The fit was perfect, nothing tight or loose. Though I will mostly wear this unbuttoned which creates a more flattering V-neck, rather than the closed round neck. It's the round neck which can give this a dowdy look and why it didn't grab my attention for a long time.
This loose fit, fabric belted style is fast becoming my Boden favorite. I now own 6 of such unstructured styles and LOVE IT. They are comfortable, allow you to move and the print hides the flaws. Don't you just love a great buy? Great sale price, great fit, and low expectations that turn out to be a WINNER!!!

The dress is pretty but it's not quite right. First, I ordered a 6L and the dress was still on the short side. Second, the dress isn't lined and it doesn't have a slip built into either. The dress doesn't NEED a slip, but it would have been nice b/c the material is pretty thin. In the end, the dress could have worked but I elected to return it and spend my money on other items.

I bought this dress for every day use and it fits perfect for this goal.
the dress a little bit loose on the top, even if I have 34D. I ordered 8L and now I think 8R could be better. Can't find right boden size, the same size works differently with every item. But I will keep this dress, because I love pattern, quality and design and belt helps me with the top. The material not too thin and not too thick, I can wear this dress even now, in the middle of winter, in NY.

The cut of this dress did not do anything for my shape. I am a size 12, 5'6.5", 38D, 45 year old. The top was too blousy and just made me look bigger than I am. I need something to show my curves otherwise I just look fat. This was not that dress. :( On the plus side, the pattern on the fabric was beautiful.

I ordered this thinking it would be a great fall dress with tights and boots. I loved the print of the fabric but the overall dress was less than I was expecting. It appeared flimsy for lack of a better term. When I tried it on the belt would not stay over the seam between the bodice and the skirt and the seam seemed too come too close to my bust.
I am 5'9" 155#. Perhaps it will fit a different body type better.
